In 1999, we registered an education trust with the aim of providing quality education in the rural area of Jainapur in the Vijayapur district of the state Karnataka. However, in 2008, the same trust was converted and renamed as the Sarvodaya Social Welfare and Education Foundation Jainapur, a registered society. The primary objective of this society is to establish educational institutions that can cater to the educational needs of the area. The region was severely affected by the Upper Krishna Project (UKP) in 1999, resulting in the submergence of several villages in the Krishna river belt due to the Almatti Dam's backwater. The rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected people and villages posed significant challenges to the government. In such a disturbed situation, the society extended its support to the government to establish education institutions in this area.
Consequently, in 1999, the society began a pre-primary and primary Kannada medium school with three classrooms and an enrollment of 32 students. However, in the last academic year of 2022, the enrollment rose to over 1200 students from pre-primary to degree level, with all the necessary facilities, including multistorey infrastructure and qualified faculty. The institution comprises pre-primary and higher primary schools in both Kannada and English mediums, high school and PUC level in Kannada medium with co-education. Our institute provides equal opportunities to both boys and girls and encourages them to pursue their dreams and ambitions. This has led to an increase in the number of girls attending the school, and many of them have gone on to pursue higher education and successful careers.
Despite our concerted efforts, we have observed that a significant number of parents in the region are hesitant to enroll their daughters in higher education, particularly at degree colleges located in district and taluk headquarters, following completion of the 12th grade. In order to address this challenge, we have established women's degree colleges in the arts and commerce streams in this area under the Akkamahadevi Women's University, Vijayapur. This initiative has resulted in a noticeable increase in the number of female students pursuing higher education in the region after completing their pre-university education. We remain committed to addressing this challenge through our sustained efforts to provide quality education to the children of this region.
Our mission is to provide an inclusive, innovative, and holistic education to students in the rural area.
Our vision is to provide access to quality education that equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
